Hamburg's regional funder MOIN Filmfoerderung has three supported films in the running for the 99th Academy Awards. Nepal submitted "Elefanten im Nebel" (Elephants in the Mist), directed by Abinash Bikram Shah and produced by Luebeck's Zischlermann Filmproduktion with EUR 65,000 (\~$72,000) from MOIN. Germany's entry is "Gelbe Briefe" (Yellow Letters), the Berlinale Golden Bear winner from Ilker Catak, which received EUR 450,000 (\~$500,000) and shot for three weeks in Hamburg. Austria put forward "Rose," the Sandra Hueller period drama from Markus Schleinzer that took EUR 100,000 (\~$110,000) in MOIN support. "Elefanten im Nebel" won the jury prize at Cannes Un Certain Regard and premieres at FilmFest Hamburg on September 25.
