# Netflix, YouTube and Skydance Join Germany's TV Chiefs as Munich's Medientage Turns 40

The 40th Medientage München, Germany's annual media congress, runs 21 to 23 October at Munich's House of Communication and, new this year, two more venues in the neighbouring Werksviertel, with more than 350 speakers across over 100 panels, talks, masterclasses and meetups on seven stages; last year's edition drew more than 5,000 visitors. Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder opened it on 21 October with a call for a European regulatory initiative, and Thursday's TV summit put Netflix's content chief for Germany, Austria and Switzerland Katja Hofem, YouTube Germany managing director Andreas Briese, RTL Deutschland chief content officer Inga Leschek, ProSiebenSat.1 chief content officer Henrik Pabst, ARD programme director Christine Strobl and Leonine Studios chief Fred Kogel on one stage. Kogel called 2026 his company's toughest year yet, with production costs up as much as 25% since Covid and hardly any new commissions for this year since May, while Hofem said Netflix's US management changes will not touch its German budget as long as the right projects come along. Skydance's Christina Sulebakk, who runs the former Warner Bros. Discovery business in the Nordics and German-speaking Europe, gives one of the congress's English-language sessions, executives from Google, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and TikTok are on the speaker list, and Friday's Europe Day opens with the European Commission's Renate Nikolay.
