RTL Deutschland announced September 17 it will eliminate roughly 500 positions by the end of 2027, the majority this year, as it integrates Sky Deutschland into its operations. Around 150 positions will go unfilled rather than face layoffs, and the company says it aims to avoid compulsory redundancies. The cuts follow more than 600 jobs already eliminated under the "Shift 2026" restructuring programme announced in late 2025. RTL Group acquired Sky Deutschland from Comcast on June 1 and expects the merger to generate €250 million (~$275 million) in annual synergies within three years.
