Danny Boyle says he would use generative AI again after criticism of its use in "Ink", his film about Rupert Murdoch's Fleet Street career, telling Screen International at the film's UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 12 October that it appears in "very small amounts", for brief appearances of mice and to replace a real actor's face with Margaret Thatcher's. "For animals, it's a no-brainer," Boyle said, adding that he would not replace actors with it "unless I had a very specific use" and that it can be used "if there's a proper and decent way to use it that doesn't put anybody out of work". "Ink" stars Jack O'Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy and is set for release in January 2027, Screen reports.
