CoSTAR's Live Lab gives three small UK companies more than £100,000 (~$134,000) in total plus technical support to build tools for "intelligent venues", which its call defined as adaptive, data-driven environments that sense, interpret and react in real time, including through AI-driven control of stage, sound and lighting systems. Volumetric video company Gracia AI builds an "Intelligent Venue Replay" workflow for near-real-time photorealistic 3D replays of live sport from multi-camera feeds, London's Happaning a navigable multi-view format, ViiVid, that lets audiences switch viewpoints during a live event, and Manchester Collective an interface gathering audience interaction data from several sources. The projects run from October 2026 to January 2027; CoSTAR is funded through UK Research and Innovation and delivered by its Arts and Humanities Research Council, and Live Lab is led by the University of York.
