The television works council of the Czech Audiovisual Fund awards 10,515,000 koruna (roughly $500,000) in development support to 16 documentary projects out of 45 applications, a success rate of about 36%, against 30,065,000 koruna (~$1.4 million) requested. Among them are Assaf Lapid's "Ve věci přihlížení", a Czech-German coproduction built on interviews with Israeli soldiers who served in Gaza; Tereza Šimíková's "Arctic Empire", about the Russian minority on Svalbard, with three Scandinavian producing partners; Adéla Komrzý's "Bertha", on Bertha von Suttner and Alfred Nobel; and "Ticho a hluk", a seven-part series of 40-minute portraits whose application carries a confirmation of interest from HBO. Thirteen more projects scored above 70 points and got nothing.
