Swiss actress Luna Wedler receives the Zurich Film Festival's Golden Eye Award on the festival's opening night, September 24, presented by Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, as the 22nd edition runs to October 4. She is in Zurich with the world premiere of Frauke Finsterwalder's "Eurotrash", a Germany and Switzerland coproduction in the Gala Premieres section adapted from Christian Kracht's novel, in which a writer and his terminally ill mother travel through Switzerland trying to give away their fortune, with Barbara Sukowa, Alexander Fehling and Stefan Kurt; C-Films produces and the Zürcher Filmstiftung, the Zurich film fund, backs it. Wedler won the Marcello Mastroianni Award at Venice in 2025 for "Silent Friend" and has had eight films premiere at Zurich, and she follows Charlotte Gainsbourg, Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Dakota Johnson as a Golden Eye recipient.
