From January 1, 2027, the Swedish Film Institute backs a Swedish minority coproducer on an international feature only where the film's budget is at least 20 million kronor (roughly $2 million), at least half of its total financing is confirmed at application and a Swedish distributor has signed a letter of commitment or intent. Support is capped at 60% of the Swedish share of the financing, applications are handled on a rolling basis and established directors get priority, while documentaries and shorts carry no budget or financing thresholds. Producers applying with new projects at the October 6 deadline under the current rules may apply again under the new ones.
