Screen Flanders, the economic production incentive run by Flemish business agency VLAIO with the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), will be abolished from 2027, the scheme says, calling the news shocking and warning of far-reaching consequences for producers, facility companies and crews. It says every euro of its support generated €8 of audiovisual spending in the Flemish Region; commitments already made stand, its second 2026 call is processed as planned and applications already filed are still handled. The Flemish government's September 30 policy statement promises to cut more than €500 million (roughly $585 million) of subsidies over three years and end fragmented support schemes, without naming Screen Flanders.
