Germany's Federal Court of Justice rules invalid, for lack of transparency, the terms Amazon used to raise its Prime membership fee in September 2022, from €7.99 to €8.99 (roughly $9.35 to $10.50) a month and from €69 to €89.90 (~$81 to ~$105) a year, in a case brought by consumer group Verbraucherzentrale NRW. The clause let the company adjust a membership covering shipping and streaming "at reasonable discretion"; the group is pursuing a separate collective action at the Higher Regional Court in Hamm to recover the difference.
