Matthias Brandt narrates "Terra X: Die Geschichte der Deutschen" ("The History of the Germans"), a five-part ZDF series running from the Ice Age to the 15th century, shot over more than 60 days with about 40 actors and hundreds of extras; ZDF says it deliberately did without artificial intelligence to depict historical people. Christian Twente and Nina Koshofer direct, Tamar Baumgarten-Noort is head writer, and locations range from the Swabian Alb and the Varus battlefield at Kalkriese to Aachen, Quedlinburg and Lübeck. All five episodes stream on the ZDFmediathek from November 9 before airing on ZDF from November 15, and a second season running to the 20th century follows in 2027.
