The Vancouver International Film Festival, October 1 to 11, runs a six-film strand called "Focus On New German Cinema: Extreme Tension", including Faraz Shariat's "Prosecution", Kai Stänicke's "Trial of Hein", Daniela Magnani Hüller's "Sometimes, I Imagine Them All at a Party" and Christoph Otto's "The Ballad from Wednesday to Thursday", German Films, the national film export body, says. Another 23 German films and coproductions play in other sections, editor Evelyn Rack gives a masterclass, and four of the focus directors travel with their films.
