NBC Develops US Version of Finnish Cop Show "66 North Precinct"

NBC is developing a US drama based on "66 North Precinct", the Finnish series about the police in Lapland, with "The Irrational" creator Arika Lisanne Mittman as creator and showrunner alongside Elevate Entertainment and Universal Television, the original's distributor Seven.One Studios International says. The American version is a darkly comic case-of-the-week procedural about a former pro boxer who returns with her family to her southern Colorado hometown and rebuilds her life as a sheriff's deputy. Yellow Film & TV produces the original, which premiered in 2023, has run two seasons and stars Saara Kotkaniemi; it draws on the real and often bizarre crimes of Lapland, which the release calls the world's largest police precinct.
