Studiocanal's "Extrawurst" is the best-selling German film of the first half of 2026 with 1,956,107 tickets, fifth overall behind four US releases led by Universal's Super Mario Galaxy film with 3,724,400, and seven German films and coproductions make the half-year's top 25 against four a year earlier, a study by Germany's federal film board FFA shows. The others are Studiocanal's "Woodwalkers 2", Warner Bros.' "Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke", MFA+'s "Checker Tobi 3", Sony's "Die drei ???" film "Toteninsel" and two Leonine comedies, "Horst Schlämmer sucht das Glück" and "Ein fast perfekter Antrag"; the top 25 took 32.7 million of the 46.2 million tickets sold, 71%, and 98% of viewers rated "Ach, diese Lücke" excellent or good. Germany has about a quarter of the US population, so "Extrawurst" is roughly the per-capita equivalent of 7.8 million US tickets.
