Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival names 12 world premieres for the Official Competition of its 30th edition, screening November 13 to 19, among them Patrice Toye's "The Assignment" (Belgium, Germany, Netherlands), Alison Kuhn's "The Matriarch" (Germany), Declan Recks' "One Sweet Hour" (Ireland), Frédéric Baillif's "A Job Well Done" (Switzerland) and Patricia Ortega's "Caballé" (Spain, Belgium). Sir Christopher Hampton chairs the jury with Myriam Sassine, David Stump, Julie Billy and Tiina Tauraite, and the City of Tallinn puts €20,000 (roughly $23,000) behind the top prize. Toye's film, "De opdracht" in Dutch and her fifth feature, is produced by Hans Everaert for Menuetto with Germany's 2Pilots, the Netherlands' Willy Waltz and Belgium's Stenola, backed by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund and due in Belgian cinemas in 2027; the First Feature Competition includes Ray Panthaki's UK-US "In Starland".
