Britain selects "Rehearsals For A Revolution", a documentary by London-based director Pegah Ahangarani, as its entry for best international feature at the Oscars, Screen International reports. The film traces Ahangarani's life and more than 40 years of Iranian history through five portraits of relatives and mentors; she wrote, researched and edited it in the UK over more than two and a half years, and after a world premiere in Cannes' Special Screenings it won the L'Oeil d'or, the festival's prize for best documentary across its sections. Kaveh Farnam of Czech company Media Nest and Adria Mones of Spain's Fasten Films produce, and a committee of members or representatives of Bafta's film committee picked it. Sony Pictures Classics gives it Oscar-qualifying runs in New York and Los Angeles in December, then opens it in one venue in each city from January 8, 2027.
