Kevin McKidd and Laura Fraser Join BBC Drama "The Young Team" as Filming Starts in Scotland

Filming begins in North Lanarkshire on "The Young Team", a six-part drama Graeme Armstrong adapts from his award-winning novel of the same name for BBC One, BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer, Screen Scotland announces. Jakob James Smith ("MobLand") leads as Alan "Azzy" Williams in a story set in Airdrie, with Kevin McKidd ("Grey's Anatomy") as headteacher Mr McGiver and Laura Fraser ("Breaking Bad") as Azzy's mother Angela, and a young cast found through open casting across North Lanarkshire that drew more than 1,000 applicants. Glasgow's Synchronicity Films produces in association with FOX Entertainment Global, which distributes worldwide, and Screen Scotland; Paul McGuigan directs episodes one to three, his first job directing in Scotland in 30 years, and Andrew Cumming directs the rest, with Gillian Roger Park and Robert Florence co-writing.
