Fabel Entertainment has the rights to "The Pope's Bodyguard", the forthcoming book by Sunday Times Insight investigations correspondent Emanuele Midolo about Archbishop Paul Marcinkus, and develops it as the TV drama "The Devil's Business" with Tom Fontana ("Oz", "Homicide: Life on the Street", "Borgia") as creator and showrunner, Fremantle announces. Fabel leads development and produces with Picomedia, Fremantle's Rome-based company; the period drama is set in the Vatican's financial and political dealings of the 1980s, and Century is expected to publish the book in June 2028. Fontana says he has "wanted to tell this story for decades"; no broadcaster, cast or budget is named.
