Félix Viscarret starts shooting "Blanco" on October 19, a fiction feature that reconstructs the 48 hours after Miguel Ángel Blanco was kidnapped in July 1997, told through the journalists who covered it. Nadie es Perfecto and the Basque producer Euskadi Movie produce, with Spanish public broadcaster RTVE and Netflix participating, and Universal Pictures International Spain releases it in Spanish cinemas on July 9, 2027, the 30th anniversary of Blanco's murder. Mikel Bustamante plays Blanco; Eneko Sagardoy, a Goya winner for "Handía", and newcomer Jon Ander Urresti lead a cast that includes Natalia Huarte, Carlos Scholz and Lander Otaola, and the Fundación Miguel Ángel Blanco and the Blanco Garrido family support the film. RTVE's head of cinema and fiction, José Pastor, calls it one of the broadcaster's most important projects for 2027, "if not the most important".
