Icelandic production company ACT4, German public broadcaster ZDF and its sales arm ZDF Studios greenlight "Vigilant", a six-part English-language drama that Kari Skogland, who won a BAFTA and an Emmy nomination for "The Handmaid's Tale" and directed all six episodes of "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier", directs and executive produces, with production starting in Iceland on 29 October. "Severance" and "Trapped" actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, a partner in ACT4, writes and adapts it from Skúli Sigurðsson's crime novel "Stóri bróðir" with Víkingur Kristjánsson, Anita Briem, Teitur Magnússon and Anna Gunndís Guðmundsdóttir, following a journalist approached by a self-styled vigilante who wants to expose his violent campaign against sexual predators. ZDF coproduces and ZDF Studios co-developed it and oversees distribution outside the US alongside Los Angeles-based Zero Gravity, while Icelandic telecom Síminn is the local financing and streaming partner, premiering it on Sjónvarp Símans Premium; no cast is named yet.
