Norwegian producers are involved in eight countries' official entries for the best international feature Oscar, the Norwegian Film Institute says, and five of them carry money from Sørfond, the Norwegian fund that tops up coproductions whose lead producer is based in a country on the OECD's development aid list. Cristian Mungiu's Palme d'Or winner "Fjord", Romania's entry, was shot entirely in Norway, mainly at Hjørundfjorden on the west coast, with Oscar nominee Sebastian Stan opposite Renate Reinsve, and drew 4.65 million kroner (~$440,000) in production and launch support through Norwegian coproducer Eye Eye Pictures; Norway's own entry, Hans Petter Moland's "Markens grøde", got 20 million kroner (~$1.9 million). Sørfond put 500,000 to 700,000 kroner (roughly $47,000 to $66,000) each into Nepal's "Elephants in the Fog", Georgia's "Guria", Thailand's "9 Temples to Heaven", Indonesia's "Four Seasons in Java" and Rwanda's "Ben'Imana", while Iraq's entry, Halkawt Mustafa's "No Paradise If You Are Killed by a Woman", is led by Norway's Hene Films.
