Aritz Moreno's "Karateka", the story of Sandra Sánchez's path from being written off by the system to Olympic gold at 39, guided by her trainer and partner Jesús del Moral, opened in Spanish cinemas on 30 October after premiering at San Sebastián. Andrea Ros plays Sánchez and Patrick Criado plays del Moral, with Ernesto Alterio, Pilar Castro and Japanese actors Mizuki Yoshida, Denden and Ayako Fujitani in the cast. Atresmedia Cine and Sr. y Sra. produced it in Madrid and in Tottori and Fujinomiya in Japan, and Warner Bros. Pictures distributes; Moreno calls it his hardest film for its scale, shot in four languages.
