Netflix names Peter Rice chief content officer from 26 October, reporting to co-CEO Ted Sarandos, replacing Bela Bajaria, who leaves after nearly ten years at the company and had been chief content officer since early 2023, Screen reports. Sarandos calls Rice "one of the most effective at-scale operators in the entertainment industry" and says Bajaria "led enormous changes at Netflix". The move comes the day after Netflix announced about 1,000 layoffs, 6% of its workforce, and ahead of its third-quarter results on 20 October; no change to its European content leadership is announced.
