The Czech Audiovisual Fund splits CZK 100 million (roughly $4.8 million) between 11 fiction features, from 36 applications that asked for more than CZK 367 million (~$18 million), 12 of them from first-time directors. Among the winners is "127 dní", a project of Jiří Havelka and Kateřina Krobová produced by Elekta Prague about the four spring months of 1977 that Václav Havel spent in custody after the crackdown on the Charter 77 dissidents, based on the diary he kept in his cell. The fund also backs Viera Čákanyová's fiction debut "Warhaiku" about drone warfare and war trauma, Johana Ožvold's "36m2", adapted from Daňa Horáková's memoir of her relationship with filmmaker Pavel Juráček in Munich, and Tomáš Pavlíček's tragicomedy "Pořezat pár větví", the only project funded at the full amount it asked for; every other award was cut by up to 10%.
