ICAA, Spain's national film agency, awards €31.5 million (roughly $37 million) in selective production aid to 70 feature projects chosen from 409 applications: 36 fiction or animation features of special cultural value, 24 documentaries and 10 experimental films. The five largest awards, €1 million (~$1.17 million) each, all go to animation: "Hàbitat" (Cornelius Films), "Carmen y la cuchara de palo", "Amalur Profezia", "Aya en el desierto" and "Nora eta Anbotoko Dama", and animation takes 19.76% of the round, while live-action fiction tops out at €800,000 (~$935,000). The agency counts 31 projects directed only by women and 49 international co-productions, 37 of them majority Spanish; the call opened with €20 million and was raised twice to reach the final total.
