The Czech Audiovisual Fund says it learned from the media that the culture minister has announced the recall of its board chair, Petr Dvořák, four days after all 15 board members voted to keep 2027 selective support at CZK 787.5 million (roughly $38 million); Dvořák says the minister phoned him on the morning of 27 October. The fund argues that cutting its budget saves the state nothing, because the statutory minimum state subsidy for 2027 is CZK 228 million (~$11 million) and the rest comes from its own sources, including audiovisual fees, and that the board has no power to change that minimum. Dvořák calls the ministry's proposal one that "does not match current law" and is "rash and undiscussed", and says he is "neither caught off guard nor surprised".
